The West Virginia Golden Horseshoe is a contest for 8th-grade students in the state of WV. It tests students' knowledge or facts about the state's history, economy, and current events. Students participate in two tests to determine the winners. Each county has a minimum of two winners. There is a multiple-choice and an essay test. Click here to access the multiple-choice portion of the WV Golden Horseshoe test through the Webtop portal. The WV Golden Horseshoe Multiple-Choice test will be given on March 18, 2021, for all 8th graders in Monongalia County. In-person learners will take it at their home schools on this day. Distance, WV Virtual, and pre-registered homeschool students must notify the school of their intention to take the test. The test must be taken in person. It will not be offered virtually. To limit exposure for the distance, home-school, and WV Virtual students, the test for will be held at South Middle School on March 18, 2021, after regular school hours. Students should bring a charged Chromebook if they have a school-issued one. Students should arrive at 2:30 pm. The test will conclude at 3:30 pm.
