WV Climate/Culture Survey
The West Virginia Department of Education is offering the West Virginia Climate Surveys as a means for obtaining information from students, staff and parents about conditions for learning in West Virginia schools. The surveys will be conducted online from now until November 15, 2019. Students will complete the survey in school, and parents are asked to complete the survey from home.
On Tuesday, October 22, 2019, students brought home a survey instruction sheet for parents/caregivers. You will note, that on the survey info sheet, Cheat Lake Elementary School is identified as “056-232”.
Parents are asked to complete the online survey about school climate…the learning and teaching/working conditions…to help guide school improvement efforts. We value your feedback, as the parent/caregiver perspective is critical to making schools successful. The results of this survey will be used to make changes in your child’s school, to ensure a positive climate for teaching and learning.
When you log onto the survey, you will see explanatory information about the survey and important information as to your rights as a survey participant.
You may access the survey at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/pascswv19f.

The Cheat Lake community continues to grow and add to our enrollment numbers. Currently, we stand at 824 students. We’ve enrolled 10 new students in the past few weeks, and everyday we find students coming and going.
With so much growth happening in this part of the county, the Cheat Lake Elementary School Local School Improvement Council (LSIC) has recommended, that the Board of Education consider building another elementary school, somewhere in the Cheat Lake area, to help reduce the enrollment in the existing facility. The group also recommended building another middle school. New facilities with large gathering spaces, and all the amenities, plus adequate parking, would be welcome additions to the community.
Enjoy the briskness of autumn!
